INTRODUCING YOUR HOST - PETER HILLARY

"Hello, my name is Peter Hillary and I will accompany the Sir Edmund Hillary Explorer Pinnacle tours around the South Island of New Zealand.

My father Sir Edmund Hillary is famous for making the first ascent of Mt Everest in 1953 with his climbing partner Tenzing Norgay but it is the Southern Alps of New Zealand where he learned the skills of mountaineering that he loved the most. He took his family into the mountains and around the coasts of the South Island and we all fell in love with this part of this beautiful country. Now I have

done the same with my family and there are three generations of Hillarys who know and love the amazing landscapes of the south and that is what I want to share with you on the Sir Edmund Hillary Explorer Pinnacle Tour.

INCLUDES "THE BIG 5" RAIL ADVENTURES OF THE SOUTH ISLAND

This exceptional 5-star, Small Group Tour is inspired by one of the greatest and most iconic adventurers of our time. The Sir Edmund Hillary Explorer invites you on an epic journey by rail and luxury coach throughout the majestic South Island of New Zealand, hosted by Peter Hillary, son of Sir Edmund Hillary.

Reviews

Barry & Gay Goss,  Australia - March 2025

What a trip - cannot speak more highly of it and would recommend anyone to take it.  I had not been to the South Island and was looking forward to enjoying the scenery and this tour gave me just that.  Our guides were amazing and made a fantastic team. The trains made for an interesting inclusion to the itinerary and gave a different perspective to road travel. All in all, a perfect holiday!

Raewyn Quayle, Auckland, NZ - March 2024

What a fabulous tour! A trip of a lifetime encompassing our love of trains. We meet some awesome tour mates and made some friends from overseas. The tour was professionally put together with excellent tour guides and leaders and nothing was too much trouble. Bucket list adventures all ticked off and the most gorgeous weather, we were spoilt.

Mary Carstensen, Darwin, AUS- April 2023
I did the tour in April 2023. It was a wonderful trip through stunning landscapes, conducted by expert guides with top notch accommodation and meals. The trains are relaxing and the scenery is panoramic. The staff go all out to make it happen seamlessly and have interesting stories to tell. It is very good value with no hidden extras and fair refunds if optional tours are cancelled by weather or other events.

This was one of the best organized tours we have ever been on and would thoroughly recommend it to anyone. The itinerary definitely showed us the best of the South Island of New Zealand and we were awestruck by the magnificent and grandeur of the mountainous scenery.

We had a wonderful holiday.
